The Kpanlogo is related to the ritual drums used by royal courts across Ghana to summon the town or make announcements. This Kpanlogo are hand-carved and dyed and adjustable by the musician through six hand-carved pegs.
A relative of the Congo drum, but in many ways its superior, the Kpanlogo was popularized by the Ga peoples' dance of the same name that emerged around the time that Ghana successfully achieved its independence from Britain. The dance, and the drum that forms its centerpiece, is a celebration of the good things in life and the hope for a new world. drums, drum, djembe, african drum, african drum, kpanlogo, bogarabou, djembe drum |
